Introducing Fellow Hiker Barry, Wigan's Answer to Chuck Norris

Introducing Barry a friend of over 3 years who is joining our band of mental men on the Coast to Coast Charity Challenge!

Having known Bazzer for a few years now, the most we’ve walked together is down King Street and back on a night out. Food has always been provided in a take-away box and water comes in ice form. Spending a week with Barry is going to be great. Full of stories and someone who’ll make sure I see it to the end. I’ve asked Barry a few questions below with details of his chosen charity and why.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_icon type=”openiconic” icon_openiconic=”vc-oi vc-oi-heart” color=”white” background_style=”rounded” background_color=”juicy_pink” size=”lg” align=”center”][vc_custom_heading text=”What does achievement mean to you?” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:center”][vc_column_text]
To do this for my mum. I know she would be proud of me doing this to raise funds for such worthy charities. Not just my own nominated charities but also to support the rest of the team in completing it for their charities too.

Hardest challenge will be the endurance aspect as I am not very fit and about 4 stone overweight. I feel confident walking for a long time in a day but to sustain that for 5 consecutive days will be very tough.

Yep! 30 years ago in my teens I would regularly go hiking in the Lake District with my Uncle and Cousins. We would maybe do 8 to 10 miles a day on a ‘tough’ day. For many many years I have done little or no exercise apart from dragging myself around the Great Manchester Run for Macmillan.

This trek means I can play my part in kicking cancer in the balls!

I also want to support Cancer Research in the hope that in our lifetime we can stop this despicable disease from taking lives.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]]]>
