I get asked the question “What makes a website good” a lot. I’m not the expert here but your website has now become what the ‘shop window’ of your business used to be. And just like a shop window, people may walk by without taking a look inside if they don’t like what they see straight away. With hundreds of millions of other websites to compete with, it’s important that yours gets across the core messages of your business and what you can offer to potential clients and customers. Here are a few things to bear in mind when you are creating your own website.

Make Sure It Is Easy to Navigate There is nothing worse than not being able to find what you’re looking for. Well structured pages and clear navigation tabs go along way towards resolving this issue on your website. Before creating your site, it’s important to think of the journey that your customer will go on while they are there. Anything you can do to make their lives easier will undoubtedly make them more willing to stay on your site for longer and more likely to buy your products or services.

Clear Messaging Your homepage should clearly communicate exactly what your business is all about and what your customers can do while they’re on the site. Often people will only spend a few seconds on a website, so it is absolutely essential to grab their attention during this time. Make sure the entirety of your site follows a clear theme. Also, make sure your contact details are clearly visible so customers know how they can get in touch with you.

Keep It Simple Another similar, but important point is to keep your website as simple as possible. The modern trend is for minimalist sites that don’t overwhelm the visitor. If the user is suddenly bombarded with pop ups without getting through to the main website itself, this gives off a bad first impression. Many businesses are now choosing to build Pay Monthly Websites that meet all their specifications.

Strong Content, Regular Updates The initial content you have on your site will remain fairly consistent so you want to make sure that everything sounds just right. As well as written content, it’s a nice touch to make sure it is full of photos and videos showing exactly what your business is all about. There will also be parts of your site that are regularly updated to keep people coming back time and time again. This could be a blog or news page which should be full of interesting updates about your business or industry sector. If people click on this page and it hasn’t been updated in several weeks or months, this is an instant turn off.

Develop An Online Presence

You should aim for your website to be as popular as possible, as this is going to form an important part of your overall digital marketing campaign, especially important if the website is for your business. So what can you do to ensure that your website becomes more popular? The main way is through SEO, and to make sure that this is as good as it should be you might want to think about hiring an SEO agency to do the hard work for you. With their help, your website should have much more of an online presence in no time.

However, your website is just one aspect of your online presence.
