How Car Brakes Ensure Passenger Safety?

When it comes to the safety of the people you convey in your car, the braking system is your most powerful ally. It is important to be able to recognise the signs of failing brakes so that you can have them repaired without delay in order to keep your passengers fully protected. The ability to brake properly can make all the difference between suffering a serious crash on the road and driving away without a scratch. What do you need to know?

Your Warning Light Is On

When your car thinks there is a problem with the braking system, it should turn on a light on your dashboard. Of course, it could be a false reading but far too many motorists in Essex – and other parts of the country – fail to get their car checked out when such warning lights appear. It’s vital to take these warnings seriously to save passengers from hazardous accidents.

Squealing When Braking

A high-pitched noise that only happens when you are applying your foot brake is a sure sign of an issue with the brakes. Sometimes, it could be a stone that has become trapped in the brake callipers but it could be a sign of a more serious problem, too, such as brake pads which have worn away completely. It’s better to get your brakes checked within Chelmsford at Jet Wheel Tyre.

Vibration Under the Brake

If you apply your brake and it does not slow you down evenly and progressively, then a brake disc assembly may have come out of alignment. Essentially, this means that your brake is only able to work partially as the wheel rotates. In turn, this leads to the vibration you feel when you apply the brake. When you drive through mountain areas (e.g. Essex) with wobbly roads your car brakes is the only thing that is your best friend on the road.

Dripping Brake Fluid

If you notice fluid under your car after you’ve been parked, then you could be losing brake fluid. This can lead to a catastrophic failure which would be very dangerous if left unattended to. Don’t assume you have just lost a little engine oil and have your car checked out thoroughly.
