Singing Hills Golf Course is the type of course, you’d expect to see large tournaments with 100s of golfers playing throughout their 27 hole complex. But it wasn’t the course for me.

Having three 9 holes, in theory, is exactly what you’d want from a course that the Founder set up to be a “premier Society venue”. In reality, it wasn’t.

We played the Lake course first and then the 9 hole River course. Lake course was awesome with some really interesting holes making you have to think your way around and put some time and effort into your shotmaking. The greens were really great too. However, when we hit the turn, the condition dramatically went downhill.

The River course had clearly been under the strain from being a “premier Society venue”, the greens had been dyed Green, the teeboxes were horrendous and on one of the holes, the definition of a teebox was redefined.

It’s such a shame as the well stocked pro-shop, driving range, awesome food at the clubhouse and some real signature holes should have left me buzzing. Unfortunately it didn’t.

At £42 at the weekend for 18 holes plus the cost of a buggy, it pushes this into the >£50 category and into a range of courses that you’d expect a lot more.

If we could have played the lakes twice or at least two 9 holes with the same quality, without the dyed greens, it would have been great. Unfortunately, it wasn’t.

Singing Hills is a golf course with some amazing holes, IG worthy holes even, however, in a course of 18 holes the poor holes let it down.

Total Score
  • COURSE CONDITION
    3/5 Neutral
Lake Course 5 - River Course 2 = Disappointed that it wasn't the same throughout.
  • COST OF A ROUND AND A BUGGY
    1/5 Awfully
Over £60 for a round and a buggy at the weekend. Too expensive for what it is. Absolutely worth it in top condition.
  • DIFFICULTY (5 PLAYABLE FOR ALL, 1 ONLY FOR THE PROS)
    3/5 Neutral
Tough thinkers holes with a good mixture of shorter ones to catch up!
  • HOLE LAYOUTS/DESIGN
    5/5 Amazing
Layout and design was actually really good. Some really nice signature holes and a course where you cannot just grip it and rip it!
  • CLUBHOUSE AND BAR (QUALITY AND COST)
    5/5 Amazing
Despite being down south, the cost of food and drink was actually pretty decent. An amazing Clubhouse and facilities make this the best part of the venue!
  • ADDITIONAL POINTS
    2/5 Bad
2 for the facilities and set up for a society day. A great course let down by the condition and pricing.
