You might need one for entirely practical reasons, but if you have a company car that you use to meet clients, travel to events, and otherwise do business from, then you have to realise that it represents the business, too. Here, we’re going to look at some of the ways you can ensure that your car reflects well on the business.

Choose a car that suits the business

Just as you should choose the clothes that you wear to work carefully, you should choose the car that you drive carefully, as well. This isn’t always about being flash. Choosing the right company car is about thinking about how the business comes across to other people. A sporty car might work well for lifestyle businesses and influencers, but as a professional, you should choose a car that conveys both style and practicality. Something efficient, smart, but still with a bit of brand prestige can be just the right thing.

Keep it looking fresh

Even a somewhat older car or one that isn’t as flash at the top of the line models can still look great and help you cast an impressive figure when you show up in it. For that reason, you should look at the ways that you can give your car a new look. This can include fixing any dents, customising the interiors, waxing the car or even getting a new paint job. You don’t need to go overboard, but a little love and care can help your car shine and also makes you look much more responsible with the company assets.

Give it a bit of brand personality

Your company car can be a moving advertisement for the business. The most extreme example of this is using a branding wrap that literally plasters an ad across the exterior of the car but you don’t need to go as far as that. The right decal or sticker can work just as well. An especially classy method is to look for custom reg plates that are relevant to the business. This can be a representation of the business name or simply a phrase or acronym that is relevant to the business, as well.

Get the benefits you should as well

Bear in mind that a company has financial advantages that you should be taking advantage of as well. For instance, you should make sure that you’re getting the low benefit-in-kind tax rates that can make it more affordable, as well as the cheaper insurance that can often come with company cars. Check out the advantages and disadvantages to make sure that you’re benefiting in all the right ways. Otherwise, your company car might more costly than it should be, which certainly doesn’t reflect well on the business.

You don’t need to go overboard with buying the most expensive car possible and covering it head to toe in branding to help sell yourself. However, you should be mindful of the ways that you can better use that company car to your advantage.
