I've Been Asked to Try IMPOSSIBREW: An Honest Intro from a Dad Who Hardly Drinks

I hardly drink anymore, so when IMPOSSIBREW asked me to join their creator programme, I said yes on one condition: I'd tell it straight.

I've Been Asked to Try IMPOSSIBREW: An Honest Intro from a Dad Who Hardly Drinks

I hardly drink anymore. That's not a dramatic statement, it's just where I've landed. Kids, a stepson, a job that needs me sharp in the morning, and a golf swing that needs work. The evening pint or the Friday bottle of red became a rarity. Not because I'm virtuous, but because I realised I didn't miss it. So when IMPOSSIBREW got in touch about their creator programme, I was curious. A 0.5% ABV beer that might fit into the odd evening I fancy something cold and beery without the next-day drag. I said yes, on the condition that I film it honestly and write this intro exactly as it is.

Why I've cut back on evening drinks

The change wasn't overnight. It started when I was training for [a local race] and found that a beer at 9pm meant a worse run at 6am. Then family evenings got busier: reading with the kids, sorting school stuff, the usual. I'd rather have a clear head than a third drink. These days I might have one proper beer a week, sometimes none. So the idea of a 0.5% ABV option that I can pour on a Tuesday night without thinking twice? That's interesting to me.

What the IMPOSSIBREW brief actually asks for

The brand sent a creator brief. It's clear about what they want: a short vertical video, 20 to 45 seconds, filmed like I'm talking to a mate. No scripted ad voice. They want my own story about cutting back, an evening swap, or finding a beer I actually enjoy. The product needs to be visible and poured or opened on camera. They also list things I must not say: no claims about sleep, recovery, hormones, stress, anxiety or weight. No medical talk. No 'zero alcohol' or 'alcohol free' (it's 0.5% ABV). No stats unless they provide them. I respect that. It keeps the video honest and keeps me out of trouble.

Filming my first IMPOSSIBREW video

I'm not a natural on camera. But the brief says go off script and talk to a mate, so that's the plan. I'll film in my kitchen after the kids are in bed. I'll open the can on camera, pour it into a glass, and give my honest first reaction. I'm not going to pretend it tastes like a double IPA if it doesn't. I'll say what I actually think. That's what the brief asks for, and it's what I'd want to read if I were you. The video gets uploaded to Trybe for approval, and they might run it as a Meta partnership ad. Fine by me.

What I'm not going to say

I won't tell you it improves your sleep. I won't tell you it helps you recover from training. I won't tell you it's a health product. It's a 0.5% ABV beer. That's it. If you want a medical opinion, ask a doctor. I'm a dad with a blog and a camera phone.

The takeaway

If you're a working parent who's cut back on drinking, you're not alone. I'm not here to preach. I'm here to try a beer and tell you what I think. The video will go up on my socials once IMPOSSIBREW approves it. And if you've found a 0.5% ABV beer you actually like, tell me in the comments. I'm still looking for the one that tastes like a proper pint after a long day.
