When it comes to being a part of a family, you can often find yourself having a range of different roles. Not only are you a son and a brother, a nephew and a grandson, but as soon as you become a parent, a range of roles automatically come with it. Caretaker, provider, taxi driver, financier, and chief of fun are just some of those.
But when you have a big family, and you want to try and bring everyone together to join in the fun, you may also want to add sporting captain to your list of roles too. Because when you can bring your family together to form sporting teams for year round fun, it’s an incredible experience to be a part of. So let’s take a look at how you can do it.
Decide On The Sport(s)
The first thing you need to do is choose the sport, or the sports, that you want to work with here. There are lots of family sports for each season, so it may be nice to pick out a couple so that you can all keep playing throughout the year. Whether you pick football or cricket, rugby or even badminton, you need to choose the sports that everyone can not only take part in, but enjoy the most too.
Pick A Place To Play
Next on your list of tasks is to choose your playing spot. Now, this may seem irrelevant, but that’s not true. The place you decide on should be situated in an area so that everyone can get to it and enjoy taking part in the game. This is especially important if your family all live in different areas. Or, if you’re quite close, it may be as simple as hosting it in your back garden.
Select The Teams
Then, you need to be able to select your teams. This can often be one of the most important parts – especially if you have adults and children involved. You’re going to want to make sure that they are equal, so this means you need to be able to include a range of abilities on each side, as well as ages and sexes too. Also be mindful of family members that want to play on the same team.
Create A Uniform
Then on to the fun stuff – the kit. Because we all know that it’s so much fun to wear your sporting stripes. So if you all want to look the part, why not get some t-shirts and silicone wristbands made up for each team? Then, you can really get into the sport when you’re playing, and you’ll have the wristbands to wear when you’re not if you want to stay loyal to your side!
Set Up Fixtures
And finally, you then need to set those fixtures and play ball! It’s fun to be able to set different matches up throughout the year, maybe even with gatherings, barbecues (in the summer), and parties for afterward too. That way, you all get to play for fun, and celebrate in each other’s company afterward.
