i-Size Carseat Review – Nuna Pipa Icon and Nuna Pipafix Base

Car Seat and Base Review - Nuna PIPA icon i-Size carseat with Nina pipafix base

Welcome to my first of many car seat reviews.

Being an avid watcher and reader of reviews I wanted this to be as snappy as possible. Please note we’re looking at this on a car-seat and base only. This carseat is comparable with lots of accessories and we didn’t get to play with those.

I wanted to include the best bits and summarise as much as possible. On your right you’ll see a YouTube video to give you a more detailed look, and below is my review after Dorothy, Mrs P and I got hands on.

Overall Score

Safety

When installing there’s green indicators for base and connection. Really nice fitting 5 point harness. Carseat has really thick outer walls and side protection.

Robust

90%

Carseat feels really solid and definitely lasting until it’s not fit for purpose. There’s lots of protection to the seat and it looks like a comprehensive support system in side. Only down grade is the potential of the fabric not lasting.

Installation

Nice swivel ISO fixings on the base so it means you can attack it from an angle. Easy to attach to the base. Downgrading on the handle which gets caught on the hood it not properly away. Could be a difficult when juggling a number of tasks.

Styling

80%

Reassurinly good, looks like it’s a sensible choice. If you had this on a carrier you’d turn heads. Thought has gone in to styling while keeping it normal. Practical. Base is nice. Logo is discreet too. If it had a funky colour for me, it would be 100%.

Babies Comfort

100%

Newborn insert, head rest, and inner padding. Dorothy looked incredibly comfortable and even stayed in there a while for some laughing pics. Added cosi ties and substantial canopy with breathing vents really do make this amazing.

Size of the Seat

60%

For all that added protection and robustness you lose in size. It is a big bulky seat there may have issues on smaller cars.

Not the lightest but good considering the extra size and protection.

Special Considerations

Cositoes included and substantial canopy with sun shade with built in zippable air vents.
