Have you spent months putting pen to paper and mapping out your first big business event? Perhaps it was supposed to be a business summit? Maybe it was a business training lecture? Or it could have been a motivational networking event? Whatever event you have been planning for, the chances are that due to the current pandemic, your event has had to be postponed or even cancelled.

While you’re currently unable to hold a mass event in a face-to-face capacity, what you can do is opt to move your event online and create a virtual version of the event that you have worked so hard to organise. This doesn’t necessarily have to replace the event that you had hoped to hold, it could simply be a means to an end while the pandemic continues, with the original event taking place some time in the future.

Virtual events are becoming more and more popular as companies try to cut costs and be more efficient. But not all webinar platforms are created equal, so it’s essential to do your research in corporate event management.

The benefits of virtual events Attendees can attend from the comfort of their own homes and save on travel expenses. In addition, there is a wide range of virtual event formats to choose from webinars, whiteboard sessions, video conferencing, etc., each with its benefits over traditional events!

Why not introduce Hybrid events?

A hybrid event is an event that combines aspects of both in-person and online meetings. They can be a great way to reduce travel costs and environmental impact while also providing participants with the convenience of attending from anywhere.

Should you want to adapt your planned event and offer it as a virtual one, it will take some planning to achieve but it’s actually far easier than you might think. Wondering what steps you will need to take to plan a successful virtual event? Have a read of the tips and ideas below!

Be clear about your audience

In order for your virtual event to be a success, it’s vital that you understand your audience and are clear about what they expect from your event. A key aspect of this is ensuring that the marketing in place is spot on, and is careful to market the event not only in the right way, but to the right people. Because what you don’t want is an audience of people with no interest in what you’re talking about.

For instance, say you’re planning a social media marketing event where the content will be about how business owners can move their businesses forward by utilising social media. Your target demographic would be business owners, not social media marketers, and being clear about that in your advertising is key.

Invite guest speakers

As part of your virtual event, consider inviting guest speakers who are authorities within their field to join your event and take on a talk. If you want to add further substance to your event line up, consider hiring a guest speaker from somewhere like The Speakers Agency, for instance, where you have the option of hiring a number of well-known and experienced guest speakers who focus on a range of different topics.

Know that content is king

If your virtual event has the potential to be successful and establish that you are an authority within your sector, then the content needs to be perfectly devised and planned. You see, when it comes to events – virtual or face-to-face – it’s the content of the event that is the key aspect. You could plan an event packed full of talks and training sessions, but if the content isn’t of value or isn’t relevant, then the event won’t be successful.

There you have it, a few useful tips and ideas for ensuring that your virtual business event is a roaring success.
