If you’ve ever attempted to do DIY without the proper tools you’ll know how frustrating and stressful it can be. That’s not going to do anything to encourage your love of DIY. Once you’ve made your list of jobs, find out what tools you’ll need to complete the job easily and properly. Don’t attempt to do any DIY without the proper tools first. For example, you’ll need the best cordless drill to put a unit together, along with screws, nails and a hammer. See it Through If you’re only having a go at DIY for your wife, you better prepare yourself to see the whole job through. There’s nothing worse than a job that’s been started but not finished. If you start a job, don’t plan to do half now and half in a few weeks’ time. Start the job meaning to finish as soon as possible. Be a Perfectionist It’s hard to be a perfectionist at something you don’t enjoy, but you’ll only curse yourself if you do it wrong and have to start all over again. Check everything at least twice before you start. For example, when you need to measure something, it’s always best to measure three times and make sure you have the same measurements written down all three times before ordering materials. Get Help If you don’t know how to do something, don’t attempt to guess. It’s better for you to admit that you don’t know and get help than to guess and cost yourself unnecessary money.
