Embarking on a family getaway to the Grosvenor Hotel in Pulford proved to be an experience that seamlessly blended the allure of luxury with the warmth of home.

Our adventure commenced online, navigating through hotels.com, a platform that simplifies the booking process while rewarding us with a complimentary stay every ten nights. It’s convenient and doesn’t effect the journey so it’s my choice of app.

If you happen to arrive earlier than expected (check in at 3pm) , the hotel graciously allows access to its swimming pool and spa facilities. The first time we went we didn’t know that there was a curfew on child swimming times, this time there was a clear sign and within the email the clear times. They took notice of our feedback which was really considerate. Catlin the manager, informed us of a great stay and confirmed that should we need anything the staff were there 24/7 to assist. With Rachel’s large passenger on board (Yes the baby), accessibility was compromised. However this didn’t stop the Grosvenor pulling out all the stops. We got an accessible room with all facilities available on the ground floor. Result!

As you can see from the pictures, the hotel and grounds are beautiful. Our room matched that. A spacious room tailored for a family of four, became our haven. Despite our eldest being unable to join due to illness, the room’s grandeur and comfort were unmistakable. With a division between a king-size bed for us and sofa beds for the children, each area equipped with its own television, the room catered to our varied needs for rest and entertainment. The blend of historical charm and modern conveniences, underscored by a luxurious bathroom complete with an LED-lit shower and an oversized bath, added layers of pleasure to our stay.

The hotel’s facilities, particularly the spa, promised relaxation and leisure despite the uncooperative weather. The cleanliness and presentation of the spa, alongside the variety it offered—from a sauna and jacuzzi to a large pool—underscored the hotel’s commitment to guest contentment. A small note for future guests: the changing rooms are somewhat compact, a quirky reminder of the hotel’s character.

Dining at the Grosvenor was an affair to reminisce. The hotel boasts a jazz lounge-style restaurant where live piano music serenades guests, creating an ambience for an exquisite culinary journey. From a creamy mushroom risotto to a perfectly rare fillet mignon, every dish testified to the kitchen’s expertise. Nelsons, with its gastro-pub atmosphere, offered a delightful contrast for a more relaxed dining experience. The luxury of breakfast in bed the following morning allowed us a leisurely start to our day, indulging in both continental and full English breakfast options—a perfect choice after a day spent swimming.

The Grosvenor’s staff, with special mention of Caitlin, the manager, were at the heart of our experience. Their attentiveness, from ensuring comfortable accommodations to engaging conversations with our daughter, reflected a genuine commitment to creating memorable stays.

Situated a mere 20 minutes from Chester City Centre and within easy reach of Wrexham for a spot of shopping, the hotel’s location offered the best of both realms: the tranquillity of the countryside and the convenience of city attractions.
